Publisher review:Cardiovascular V3 model GUI - Simulation of pressure and cardiac outflow waveforms with hypertension and/or aortic stenosis The Ventricular-Valvular-Vascular (V3) mathematical model allows one to simulate left ventricular (LV) and aortic pressures, LV outflow and LV cavity volume in the presence of systemic hypertension and/or aortic stenosis.
The degree of hypertension may be adjusted by changing the vascular resistance and the arterial compliance. The severity of the aortic stenosis may be modulated from the effective orifice area. Pressure and outflow waveforms, as well as PV loops, are displayed. This V3 model has been validated in patients with aortic stenosis (Am.J.Physiol. 2005, 288, H1874).The proposed GUI is easy to manipulate. The results can be exported. The main hemodynamic parameters are displayed and a submenu gives access to published documents.Such a GUI may be used to illustrate how hypertension and aortic stenosis may influence the cardiac function.
